ToonsTunes is an online, music-themed virtual world where kids can create original music, safely chat, play games and make friends. Kids can mix-and-match pre-recorded music loops, pick musical instruments, genres and tempos, and put them together to create completely original mixes. Then, perform songs for friends on a concert stage, play as background music in your personal pod and even add them to your Facebook. You start this game with an alien avatar. By playing games you earn “Koynz” to help you purchase clothes, accessories, furniture, and pets. The ToonsTunes universe is a virtual space station that has many rooms for users to explore. Tooners also get their own pods (homes), where they can share the songs they have created with other players. ToonsTunes wants to spread the joy of creating music!Mix-O-Matic
The Mix-O-Matic is a music making engine that is located in the ToonsTunes recording studio. Using the Mix-O-Matic users create tracks by selecting from thousands of different instrumental loops-hip hop drums, pop guitar, funk keyboards, and etc.- recorded by professional musicians. The Mix-O-Matic then mixes it all together to make an amazing sounding song.
Safety
This site focuses on ages six through fourteen. In order to provide a safe online environment for kids ToonsTunes uses live moderation as well as chat bans. Players who use profanity are often punished by an automatic 15 minute chat ban. Players found by live moderators to have broken ToonsTunes rules and regulations are punished by a ban lasting anywhere from one hour to forever depending on the offense.
Avatars
While registering for ToonsTunes users are given an alien and an instrument to start out with. Later on as you earn “Koynz” and go shopping you can customize your avatar with sunglasses, hats, shirts, jewelry, shoes and instruments to create a completely original look.
Pets
Visit the ToonsTunes Pet Stop to purchase and name a platy pet. The Platys come in a variety of colors and vary in price. Like any pet you have to feed them, exercise them, clean up after them and keep them healthy. If not fed and given medicine regularly your platys die and you must save up Koynz to replace them with a new pet. Users can also take their Platys to Platy Park and let them play on either the slide, tunnels, spinner, or trampoline.
